If you’re yearning to travel to Italy (and let's be honest, who isn’t?!) dust off your passport and join us for the “Tuscany Yoga Retreat & Sightseeing Tour” taking place September 28 – October 5. The tour is hosted by Spirit of Italy Tours, a boutique travel company offering small groups of travelers intimate, one-of-a-kind journeys.
According to The Florentine, the leading news and online community serving the English-speaking community of Florence, Italian travel is once again on the upswing in this small yet vibrant capital city of Tuscany. Citing information from Booking.com it says, “Booking.com, perhaps unreliably, informs us that accommodation in Florence is 91 per cent booked over the Easter weekend ... Florence continues to exert its siren call to many...”
The Tuscany Yoga Retreat & Sightseeing Tour is centered in the Valdarno (Valley of the Arno River) region of Tuscany, an area rich with historical art and architecture and landscapes that appear to be straight out of a painted Renaissance masterpiece.
Spirit of Italy Tours has selected the lovely Poggio di Gaville as the home base for the seven-night duration of the trip. Poggio di Gaville offers tastefully appointed rooms that have been restored and furnished in updated Tuscan country-style furnishings. Each private room is complete with bathroom and beautiful views.
Located just 30 minutes from Florence on the eastern edge of the Chianti region, the setting affords spectacular views of the Valdarno and offers an ideal point of departure for day trips to explore nearby hill towns and cultural centers, shop, enjoy great country walks or admire the beauty of the surrounding woods, vineyards, olive groves and wild horses roaming freely on the grounds. With average temperatures in Tuscany in late September averaging 65-80°F, we will be sure to enjoy the tranquil setting of the gorgeous Poggio di Gaville pool.
As an added benefit, the owner of Poggio di Gaville is world-famous chef Jamal Amin who will provide our guests with his creative imprint on Tuscan cuisine using organic and locally sourced ingredients. We have also arranged for Jamal to provide our guests with a dinner cooking demo. Leisurely Paced, but Bring your Enthusiasm! The Tuscany Yoga Retreat & Sightseeing Tour is an experiential travel opportunity geared to guests as a way to explore the bellissima Italian countryside in a more mindful way and stay in touch with their yoga or exercise practice. We’ll start the day with an hour-long yoga flow class and will then take off on our sightseeing adventures. In the evenings we will share in a group meditation.
The tour affords guests the security and time-saving options of a planned schedule of events but also allows people to explore at their own pace, as desired. Tour size is limited to ten wonderful adults.
Some of the highlighted activities include:
· A journey to the famous Fiera Antiquaria di Arezzo – considered one of Italy’s finest open-air antique markets
· A trip to the Chianti region to venture deep into the cellars of the Cantalicci winery known for producing outstanding wines.
· Visits to Firenze, the seat of the Renaissance and vibrant small city
· An authentic Italian cooking demonstration featuring seasonal fare, and basic cooking techniques from Chef Jamal.
· Shoppers too will be pleased to know that in the local vicinity there are several luxury brand factory outlets, as well as discount leather warehouses where exceptional Italian handmade goods are available at reduced prices.
If you desire to travel beyond the superficial to explore Italian culture, food, sights, and experience the warmth of the people while maintaining your yoga/fitness and meditation practice, join my co-host Aleyna Stroud and myself for what promises to be an unforgettable and transformative experience.
